Prerequisites
The knowledge and skills that a learner should have before attending this course are as follows: ● Excellent understanding of networking protocols: o Recommended attendance of the Implementing Cisco Data Center Unified Fabric (DCUFI) course or attendance of the Cisco Nexus 7000, 5000 product courses o Recommended CCNP data center certification o Passed CCIE data center written exam  Excellent understanding of the Fibre Channel protocol and the SAN environment o Recommended attendance of a Fibre Channel protocol class or equivalent experience o Recommended attendance of the Configuring Cisco MDS 9000 Series Switches (DCMDS) course or equivalent experience o Read or be familiar with Robert Kembel’s books on Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel switched fabrics
Course Content
The instructor-led Cisco® Data Center CCIE® Unified Fabric Workshop (DCXUF), Version 1 is designed for candidates who are preparing to take the Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert – Data Center Certification lab exam. This course will challenge students with complex lab scenarios that provide a deep dive into the detailed configuration and optimization of protocols and features found in the data center unified fabric. Topics include configuration of Cisco unified fabric features available in NX-OS, encompassing both the Cisco Nexus® and Cisco MDS platforms. The labs provide detailed insight into the areas defined in the Cisco Data Center Infrastructure – NXOS and Cisco Storage Networking Cisco CCIE DC Lab exam topics. Although approximately 80 percent of the course consists of labs, instructors will provide students:  An understanding of how to interpret Cisco exam questions  A detailed solution for each challenge  Examples of common mistakes, troubleshooting techniques, and validation As students learn their weaknesses, instructors will offer chalk talks to help candidates better understand protocols and work through deficiencies.
Course Outline
Module 0: Course Introduction o Explain where the CCIEDC-UF course fits in the overall data center curriculum o Clarify prerequisite knowledge and skills o Review the CCIE data center lab exam blueprint ● Module 1: Cisco Data Center Infrastructure o Basic switch configuration o Implement virtual device contexts o Configure VLANs, ports, and UDLD o Optimize STP o Implement fabric extender connectivity o Configure and optimize fabric path o Implement virtual port channels (vPCs), EvPC, and vPC+ o Optimize vPC o Implement basic EIGRP and basic OSPF in data center environment o Implement BFD for dynamic routing protocols, ECMP, and multicast o Configure FHRP o Optimize graceful restart/NSF o Configure OTV multicast and unicast o Optimize OTV o FHRP filtering across OTV o Create user accounts with RBAC, manage system files, and verify DCNM o Implement AAA services, port security, NTP, PTP, and NetFlow o Configure SNMPv2 and SNMPv3, ACLs, Cisco TrustSec®, SPAN, ERSPAN, and Smart Call Home o Establish DHCP snooping, DAI, and source guard
