Summary

Cisco WebEx Social (formerly Cisco Quad) is affected by a cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in its Rich Site Summary (RSS) service links. XSS attacks use obfuscation by encoding tags or malicious portions of the script using the Unicode method so that the link or HTML content is disguised to the end user browsing to the site. The origins of XSS attacks are difficult to identify using traceback methods because the vulnerable server is used to inject the malicious code to the users' browsers, thus concealing the identity of the malicious user.

What Is a Cisco Security Notice?

The Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) publishes Cisco Security Notices to inform customers of low- to mid-level severity security issues involving Cisco products.

Customers who wish to upgrade to a software version that includes fixes for these issues should contact their normal support channels. Free software updates will not be provided for issues that are disclosed through a Cisco Security Notice.
