Cisco SMARTnet Service for Rapid Problem Resolution

Cisco SMARTnet Service is a technical support service that offers direct, anytime access to Cisco engineers and an extensive range of technical resources. SMARTnet delivers rapid issue resolution, flexible device-by-device coverage, and premium service options to help maximize operational efficiency.
Cisco SMARTnet provides the following:

  • Around-the-clock, global access to the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC)
  • Rapid issue resolution
  • Access to the extensive Cisco.com knowledgebase and tools

If you are experiencing an active security attack or believe that an attack is imminent, customers with Cisco support contracts should contact the Cisco TAC at 408 526-7209 or 800 553-2447 and request escalation to the Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT). Customers without support contracts should contact the PSIRT dedicated hotline at 877 228-7302 or 408 525-6532.

Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT)

The Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team is a dedicated, global team that manages the receipt, investigation, and public reporting of security vulnerability information related to Cisco products and networks. Cisco PSIRT provides security advisories, security responses, and security notices. The PSIRT team is available around the clock to identify possible security issues in Cisco products and networks.

For immediate emergency assistance, contact the 24 hour a day PSIRT dedicated hotline at 877 228-7302 or 408 525-6532. For emergency assistance via e-mail, contact security-alert@cisco.com.

To receive non-emergency assistance or report suspected security-related issues with Cisco products, contact psirt@cisco.com.

Cisco Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT)

The Cisco CSIRT forms part of the investigative branch of Cisco's Corporate Security Programs Office, and is Cisco's cyber investigations and forensics team. It provides Cisco with tailored security monitoring services in order to protect Cisco from cyber attacks and the loss of its intellectual assets.

The primary mission of CSIRT is to help ensure company, system, and data preservation by performing comprehensive investigations into computer security incidents, and to contribute to the prevention of such incidents by engaging in proactive threat assessment, mitigation planning, incident trend analysis, and security architecture review.

Cisco Security Remote Management Services (RMS)

Cisco Security Remote Management Services provides 24x7 remote monitoring and management of Cisco security devices that are deployed on your network. Cisco Security RMS uses automated tools that measure device performance and detect anomalous events. The staff is comprised of engineers who specialize in incident monitoring, access control management, and threat management. If you are experiencing a security incident, Cisco will work closely with you to analyze the incident and ensure the appropriate remediation steps are taken to mitigate the threat.


For incident management, Cisco Security RMS customers can access real-time, daily, and monthly security reports via the Security RMS portal. Reports show device performance, risk metrics, and top attackers, as well as detailed information about which IP addresses present the greatest threats and where attacks are targeted. Cisco Security RMS customers can also contact the RMS Service Desk at 800 234-9034.

Cisco Tactical Operations (TacOps)

Cisco Tactical Operations (TacOps) is a dedicated team that can mobilize and respond to natural disasters and other catastrophes when customers' normal communications infrastructure have been degraded or destroyed. Trained to work in challenging environments, the team responds with the Cisco Network Emergency Response Vehicles (NERV) and other satellite-based communications equipment during the acute phase of an emergency.

Priority for TacOps support is given to mission-critical public safety, government, and critical infrastructure customers. To request Cisco TacOps services, please contact your Cisco account team.
