Cisco IronPort Desktop Flag Plug-in contains an issue that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to obtain sensitive information. A workaround is available.
Cisco IronPort Desktop Flag Plug-in versions 220.127.116.11 up to but not including 6.5.0-006 contain an issue that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to obtain sensitive information.
The issue exists when a user attempts to send multiple e-mail messages by using the "Send Secure" button. In this case, only the first message that is sent will be encrypted. As a result, an unauthenticated remote attacker who is able to intercept the remaining messages could read sensitive information that the user assumes is secure.
Cisco has confirmed this issue and provided a workaround, but updated software is not available.
Cisco has released a security advisory for Cisco IronPort bug 65623 at the following link: cisco-sr-20100511-ironport. Software updates are not currently available.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this issue to obtain sensitive information.
Administrators are advised to contact the vendor regarding future updates and releases.
Users are advised to ensure that only one email composition window is open when they are using the "Send Secure" button.
Administrators are advised to monitor affected systems.
