Description

Opera for Windows prior to version 12 contains multiple vulnerabilities that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code, conduct cross-site scripting and spoofing attacks, or gain access to sensitive information on a targeted system.

This update resolves five vulnerabilities. Two cross-site scripting vulnerabilities, that could lead to arbitrary code execution, are due to improper sanitization of user-supplied input in the manner the affected software handles keyboard navigation or the timing of specific clicks and key presses have been mitigated. Two spoofing vulnerabilities caused by carefully timed reloads, redirects, and navigation of user-supplied input have been mitigated. One error due to the improper processing of JSON strings that allows pages to load a cross-domain JSON resource, which can expose sensitive information, has been mitigated.

An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by convincing a user through social engineering techniques to press the correct key sequences in order for the attacker to conduct a malicious attack. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to conduct cross-site scripting and spoofing attacks, or execute arbitrary code in the context of the browser.

Administrators are advised to allow only trusted users to have network access.
