Version Summary:HP has released an additional security bulletin and updated software to address the Oracle Java SE Critical Patch Update for April 2013.

Description

Multiple vulnerabilities in the Oracle Java SE Java Runtime Environment (JRE) component could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass security restrictions, access sensitive information, execute arbitrary code, or cause a denial of service condition on a targeted system.

The Critical Patch Update corrects 42 vulnerabilities in the component that are due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input. An attacker could exploit the vulnerabilities by convincing a user to visit a crafted web page that may provide malicious Java Web Start applications and untrusted Java applets to the affected components.

A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause multiple impacts and execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user. Code execution with administrative privileges on a Windows system could allow the attacker to cause a complete system compromise.

Users are advised not to follow unsolicited links.

Users are advised to use only the default Java plug-in and Java Web Start provided with the latest JDK or JRE 7 release.
