A vulnerability exists in the log viewer of Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal (CVP) that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to view arbitrary system files.
The vulnerability is due to an incorrect parameter check. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the log viewer.
Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security advisory and released software updates.
Cisco Unified CVP Software versions prior to 9.0(1)ES11 are vulnerable.
To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker may need access to a trusted, internal network in order to send crafted requests to the targeted device. This access requirement reduces the probability of a successful exploit attempt.
Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker to could exploit this vulnerability to view arbitrary system files on an affected device. Successful exploitation could be leveraged to conduct further attacks.
The vulnerability is due to an incorrect parameter check by the log viewer component of the affected software.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a crafted request to the log viewer component of the affected software on the targeted device. If successful, the attacker could have the ability to view arbitrary system files on the targeted device, which could be used to conduct further attacks.
