Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and software updates are available.
At the time this alert was first published, Cisco WebEx Social 3.1(1)SR3 and prior were vulnerable. Later releases of Cisco WebEx Social may also be affected.
To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must authenticate to a targeted system in order to inject malicious scripts into the link field of a post. This access requirement limits the possibility of a successful exploit.
Customers are advised to review the bug report in the "Vendor Announcements" section for a current list of affected versions.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient server-side validation and sanitization of user supplied input by the portal module of the affected software.
