Version Summary:Cisco WebEx Social contains a vulnerability that could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to inject JavaScript in links attached to posts. Updates are available.
 
 
Description
A vulnerability in the portal module of WebEx Social could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to inject JavaScript in links attached to posts.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient server-side validation and sanitization of user supplied input. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by inserting JavaScript code in the link field of a post.

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and software updates are available.
 
Warning Indicators
At the time this alert was first published, Cisco WebEx Social 3.1(1)SR3 and prior were vulnerable. Later releases of Cisco WebEx Social may also be affected.
 
IntelliShield Analysis
To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must authenticate to a targeted system in order to inject malicious scripts into the link field of a post. This access requirement limits the possibility of a successful exploit.

The vulnerability is due to insufficient server-side validation and sanitization of user supplied input by the portal module of the affected software.

An authenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by inserting arbitrary JavaScript code in the link field of a post. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker the ability to conduct further attacks.
