CVSS Version 2.0
CVSS Temporal:7.3

Version Summary:Oracle Java contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system. Updates are available.

Description
A vulnerability in the IntegerInterleavedRaster.verify() method used by Oracle Java could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system with the privileges of the targeted user.

The vulnerability is due to improper boundary restrictions imposed by the affected software. An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a targeted user to open a crafted web page that contains crafted content. The processing of the crafted content could trigger a signed integer overflow condition that the attacker could leverage to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system with the privileges of the targeted user.

Proof-of-concept code that exploits this vulnerability is publicly available.

Oracle has confirmed the vulnerability in a security bulletin and released software updates.

Warning Indicators
Oracle Java JDK and JRE prior to version 7 update 25 are affected.

IntelliShield Analysis
To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to persuade the user to follow the link.

Vendor Announcements
Oracle has released a security advisory at the following link: Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2013

Impact
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system. A successful exploit could result in a complete system compromise.

Technical Information
The vulnerability is due to improper boundary restrictions by the IntegerInterleavedRaster.verify() method used by the affected software. As a result, a signed integer overflow condition could allow the dataOffsets[0] boundary checks to be bypassed.

An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by convincing a targeted user to open a web page that contains crafted content. Processing the crafted content could trigger a signed integer overflow condition that the attacker could use to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system with the privileges of the targeted user.
