Cisco Prime Central for Hosted Collaboration Solution Assurance contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause a denial of service condition. Updates are available.
Cisco Prime Central for Hosted Collaboration Solution (HCS) Assurance contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated,
remote attacker to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition.
is due to a memory leak in the processing of TCP packets. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by
sending a TCP connection flood to the ephemeral ports. A successful exploit could
allow the attacker to disrupt services and create a DoS
condition on the affected system.
Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security advisory and has released software updates.
Cisco Prime Central for HCS Assurance versions prior to 9.1 are affected.
Cisco Prime Central for HCS Assurance was formerly known as Cisco Hosted Collaboration Mediation (HCM).
To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker may require access to trusted, internal networks to conduct a TCP connection flood attack to a targeted device. This access limitation could limit the likelihood of a successful exploit.
Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to trigger a memory leak, which could interrupt services on an affected device, resulting in a DoS condition.
The vulnerability is due to a memory leak in the affected software while processing TCP packets.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by executing a TCP connection flood attack against the vulnerable ephemeral ports. Successful exploitation could allow the attacker to disrupt services and cause a DoS condition on the affected device.
Administrators are advised to apply the appropriate updates.
Administrators are advised to allow only trusted users to have network access.
Administrators can help protect affected systems from external attacks by using a solid firewall strategy.
The security vulnerability applies to the following combinations of products.
