Version Summary:Cisco Unified Computing System contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to gain access to sensitive information. Updates are available.
 
 
Description
A vulnerability in the FTP server of the Cisco Unified Computing System could allow an unauthenticated, adjacent attacker to view and modify files.

The vulnerability is due to an undocumented user account with a hard-coded password. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by accessing the FTP server using the hard-coded credentials.

Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice and released software updates.
 
Warning Indicators
At the time this alert was first published, Cisco Unified Computing System versions 2.0 and prior were vulnerable. Later releases of Cisco Unified Computing System may also be vulnerable.
 
IntelliShield Analysis
To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must be on the same broadcast or collision domain of a targeted device. This access requirement reduces the likelihood of a successful exploit.

Technical Information
The vulnerability is due to a hard-coded password associated with an undocumented user account used by the FTP server component of an affected device.
