D-Link routers contain a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain unauthorized access. Updates are not available.
A vulnerability in D-Link routers could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain unauthorized access.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient security restrictions that are imposed by the web console of the affected software. An attacker could exploit the vulnerability by crafting HTTP requests that contain user-agent strings. The processing of these requests could allow the attacker to bypass security restrictions and gain unauthorized access to the web interface of the router.
D-Link has confirmed the vulnerability. Software updates are not available.
The following D-Link routers are vulnerable:
The attacker would likely need access to trusted networks to exploit the vulnerability. This access restriction limits the likelihood of a successful exploit.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to bypass security restrictions and gain unauthorized access to the targeted device. The attacker could leverage the access to launch further attacks.
Technical information is not available.
Administrators are advised to contact the vendor regarding future updates and releases.
Administrators are advised to allow only trusted users to have network access.
