Cisco Small Business routers contain a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain administrative-level access to the web management interface of an affected device. Updates are available.
vulnerability in the web management interface of the
Cisco RV110W Wireless-N VPN Firewall, the Cisco RV215W Wireless-N VPN
Router, and the Cisco CVR100W Wireless-N VPN Router
could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to gain
administrative-level access to the web management interface of the affected device.
The vulnerability is due to improper handling of authentication
requests by the web framework. An attacker could exploit this
vulnerability by intercepting, modifying, and resubmitting an
authentication request. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability
would give an attacker administrative-level access to the web-based
administration interface on the affected device.
Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security advisory and released software updates.
The following Cisco Small Business routers are affected:
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to gain full control of an affected device via the web management interface. A successful exploit could aid in conducting further attacks.
The vulnerability is due to improper handling of authentication requests by the web management interface on affected Cisco Small Business routers.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by intercepting, modifying, and resubmitting an authentication request sent to the web management interface of a targeted device. Successful exploitation could give an attacker administrative-level access to the web-based administration interface on the affected device, which the attacker could use to take complete control of the device and conduct further attacks.
