WordPress Age Verification plugin contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to redirect users to an arbitrary web page. Updates are not available.
A vulnerability in WordPress Age Verification plugin version 0.4 and prior could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct URL redirection attacks.
The vulnerability is due to improper validation of user-supplied input by the age-verification.php script. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to visit a malicious URL that is designed to submit a crafted redirect_to parameter to the affected script. When the user visits the URL, the attacker could redirect users to an arbitrary website and conduct phishing or spoofing attacks.
Proof-of-concept code that exploits this vulnerability is publicly available.
Users should verify that unsolicited links are safe to follow.
Administrators are advised to implement an intrusion prevention system (IPS) or intrusion detection system (IDS) to help detect and prevent attacks that attempt to exploit these vulnerabilities.
The vendor has not confirmed the vulnerability and has not released updated software.
The security vulnerability applies to the following combinations of products.
