A vulnerability in SolarWinds Server and Application Monitor version 6.0 could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on a targeted system.
The vulnerability exists due to insufficient bounds checks on user-supplied input by the affected software. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code in the context of the application using the ActiveX control Pepco32c.ocx. An exploit could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (DoS) condition.
Proof-of-concept code that exploits this vulnerability is publicly available.
Administrators are advised to implement an intrusion prevention system (IPS) to help detect and prevent attacks that attempt to exploit this vulnerability.
The vendor has not confirmed the vulnerability and updated software is not available.
