Cisco Security Intelligence Operations has detected significant activity related to Portuguese-language spam e-mail messages that claim to contain budget information for the recipient. The text in the e-mail message instructs the recipient to follow a link to view a spreadsheet for additional details. However, the link directs the user to a malicious .zip file containing a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.
E-mail messages that are related to this threat (RuleID4140) may contain the following files:

The Humberto.exe file in the Humberto.zip attachment has a file size of 57,344 bytes. The MD5 checksum, which is a unique identifier of the executable, is the following string: 0xC1DE9AAE9FABA62AF39CCECC38913B74

Cisco IronPort appliances are automatically updated to prevent both spam e-mail and hostile web URLs from being passed to the end user.
