Description
 
Cisco Security Intelligence Operations has detected significant activity related to spam e-mail messages that claim to contain a debt collection notification for the recipient. The text in the e-mail message attempts to convince the recipient to open the attachment and view the details. However, the .zip attachment contains a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.

E-mail messages that are related to this threat (RuleID4796 and RuleID4796KVR) may contain the following files:

The SkaddenDebtNotification934_PP_07.exe file in the SkaddenDebtNotification977_PP_36.zip attachment has a file size of 111,104 bytes. The MD5 checksum, which is a unique identifier of the executable, is the following string: 0x2544E0E8BB0047146A41272FBA5C4C29

A variant of the SkaddenDebtNotification934_PP_07.exe file in the SkaddenDebtNotification661_PP_20.zip attachment has a file size of 52,224 bytes. The MD5 checksum is the following string: 0xC9AB6BF193BD65B56BE3BB9453A5DD32

Furthermore, in accordance with applicable law, you may be restricted from traveling
outside the territory of the country, and your property may be seized.
Based on the foregoing we offer you to pay the debt in the amount of 376.00
