Cisco Security has detected significant activity on August 26, 2013.
Cisco Security has detected significant activity related to spam email messages that claim to contain shipping order information for the recipient. The text in the email message attempts to convince the recipient to open the attachment and view the details. However, the .zip attachment contains a malicious .exe file that, when executed, attempts to infect the system with malicious code.
Email messages that are related to this threat (RuleID6529 and RuleID6529KVR) may contain the following files:
The PO890.exe file in the PO890.zip attachment has a file size of 768,000 bytes. The MD5 checksum, which is a unique identifier of the executable, is the following string: 0x82C82888039704B53BA8B8E0F4542757
The data_09.07.2013.exe file in the data_09.07.2013.zip attachment has a file size of 270,981 bytes. The MD5 checksum is the following string: 0xE8F2055310D8B262F81AF82FB6A46ED8
