Upcoming Changes to Cisco Security Advisory Identifiers

Starting late January 2020, Cisco will begin to transition the ID format of Security Advisories, which are published by the Cisco Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT). As part of Cisco’s commitment to improve the quality of security vulnerability content and program efficiency, the new IDs will contain an alphanumeric character string instead of a date (for example, cisco-sa-asa-ftd-lua-rce-D3se5hHW).

Each ID will still be unique and include human-readable content. The First Published and Last Updated dates will still be included in advisories and as metadata in the Cisco PSIRT OpenVuln API. The advisory ID will still be used in the advisory URL, and all existing and future URLs will work as normal.

Cisco does not anticipate disruption through this transition but invites customers to contact with questions or feedback.
