A vulnerability in the CCM Service interface of the Cisco Unified Communications Manager Server contains a vulnerability that could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to conduct a cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against the user of the web interface of the affected system.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient input validation of certain parameters passed via HTTP GET or POST methods.
Cisco has confirmed the vulnerability in a security notice; however, software updates are not available.
At the time this alert was first published, Cisco Unified Communications Manager versions 9.1(2.10000.28) and prior were vulnerable. Later versions of Cisco Unified Communications Manager may also be vulnerable.
To exploit the vulnerability, the attacker may provide a link that directs a user to a malicious site and use misleading language or instructions to persuade the user to follow the provided link.
Cisco indicates through the CVSS score that functional exploit code exists; however, the code is not known to be publicly available.

An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code in the user's browser session in the context of the affected site. This could allow the attacker to access sensitive browser-based information such as authentication cookies and recently submitted data.
The vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input passed via HTTP GET or POST methods to an affected device.
An unauthenticated, remote attacker could exploit this vulnerability by persuading a user to access a malicious link. An exploit could allow the attacker to run arbitrary scripts in the context of the user's browser.
