A vulnerability in the Math.random() pseudorandom number generator of Socket.io could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to access sensitive information on a targeted system.
The vulnerability exists because the Math.random() pseudorandom number generator of the affected software creates predictable socket IDs. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by guessing the socket ID and making a request to the targeted system. An exploit could allow the attacker to gain access to sensitive information.
Socket.io has confirmed the vulnerability and released software updates.
To exploit this vulnerability, an attacker must be able to predict the socket ID on a targeted system, which could make a successful exploit difficult to achieve.
Administrators are advised to apply the appropriate updates.

Administrators are advised to run both firewall and antivirus applications to minimize the potential of inbound and outbound threats.
