A vulnerability in the proc_pid_stack() function of the Linux Kernel could allow a local attacker to access sensitive information on a targeted system.
The vulnerability is due to improper memory operations performed by the affected software when the proc_pid_stack() function, as defined in the fs/proc/base.c source code file, is used. An attacker without root permissions could exploit this vulnerability on a targeted system. A successful exploit could lead to the exposure of kernel task stack contents, allowing the attacker to access sensitive information.
Kernel.org has not confirmed the vulnerability, and software updates are not available.
To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must have local access to the targeted system. This access requirement may reduce the likelihood of a successful exploit.
