Description

There exists a buffer overflow vulnerability in MySQL when creating user defined functions. The vulnerability is caused by improper boundary handling when processing CREATE FUNCTION statements. A remote attacker with certain privilege on the MySQL server can exploit the vulnerability to cause denial of service or execute arbitrary code with MySQL privileges.The vulnerable binary is mysqld on a Unix-like system and mysqld-max-nt.exe, mysqld-max.exe, mysqld-nt.exe, mysqld-opt.exe, and mysqld.exe on Windows. The vulnerable source file is sql_udf.cc in the MySQL source tree.The vulnerable function is init_syms().The problematic parameter is the second parameter of the vulnerable function.
